A couple of weeks ago I ordered a library second copy of Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill.
Okay, a little back story (hey, back story = b.s.
! ). Last year, I was getting the Twilight series as free audio downloads from my library. Well, there was a waiting list for each audiobook. I kept flipping through the titles looking for something to listen to while I waited for the next available book. 20th Century Ghosts was ALWAYS available. Since the books could only be downloaded for a week at a time, I would listen to a story, get another Twilight book, let the Ghosts expire, then download it again. The stories were actually very, very good. I knew who Joe Hill was because I had seen him promoting Heart-Shaped Box on GMA. I thought that book would probably suck though.
Flash forward to two weeks ago. I found Heart-Shaped Box as a library second for .75 on half dot com. I ordered it from a seller who was only two towns over and expected to get it by the weekend. On the weekend I got a "family emergency/sale canceled" email from half.
So I re-ordered one from Newnan, GA.
Today it arrived. It is not a library second. It was from Barnes and Noble with the little removable sticker still on it (which I removed and saved) and it is pristine. AND it's a first edition. With the way this guy writes, it may actually be worth something someday. Besides the fun I am about to have reading it!
